Phantom of the Opera
You alone can make my song take flight
Help me make the music of the night
The musical is amazing. I marvel at the amount of coordination needed to make this musical work so perfectly... flawless (for me). I didn't pay $147 for a musical. I paid it for Magic. Change of props, coordination, the singing... all were magical. The Phantom is a dangerous man. There are some moments of that musical I absolutely love:
1. "DAMN YOU! CURSE YOU!"
This made my blood chill. The anguish of the Phantom with his face revealed.
2. Phantom appears in the mirror.
How did they do that?
3. The voice of Phantom when he is reading the letter
The voice shifts from left of the theatre to the right, and back to the left again. Simulating that the Phantom is flying around. Coolness.
4. Phantom brings Christine to the dungeons... and the waters.
One moment they are on ground level. You blink once. New scene. They are now three storeys high, making their way down to the dungeon. Magic.
5. The lifting and falling of the chandelier.
I thought the lifting at the start was phenomenal. Blinding lights and all and that adrenaline pumping 'Phantom' intro.
6. 'I love you.. I love you.'
I sympathise with the Phantom. Plus I think he sang the greatest :) Very deep, menacing and threatening deep voice.
