Together

I'm adding something new to the mixture
So there's a different hue to the picture.
A different ending to this fairytale
And no sunset into which we sail.

You know what, maybe I can never understand J and D's thinking. But here is my take: maybe D never liked T at all, but his good friend J always pair him up with T. Not just with T, but J-Gal, D-Gal in the past too. Maybe D would have went well with T if nature had taken its course, but due to the unnecessary gossip and rumours that J introduced, D finds it hard to even talk to T under natural cirumstances. Everything somehow feels contrived, even a simple conversation. D and T no longer talk to each other without feeling awkward, and they talk on MSN more than they talk in real life. They find it easier to talk behind computer screens, just enjoying each other's company without feeling the pressure of being under the mindless scrutiny of rumours and gossips. You know, their MSN script probably goes like this:

D says: Hi..
T says: hi...how are u?
D says: fine...
T says: oh...ok..

*silence for 20 minutes*

T says: hey.... i gtg...see u in sch tml?
D says: oh....so fast?
D says: ah...ok, see you tml den :)
*T is offline and is unavailable for the conversation*

All of D's anguish and agony is hidden behind that little smiley face.

See you in sch tml? Yeah, right.

Perhaps D and T only have themselves to blame for not taking the initiative, but somehow J might have put them in an unnecessary situation in the first place.

And what about J? Maybe it is true that sorrow exists because happiness exists. J made it sound as if happiness is the cause of sorrow. But think about it, sorrow only makes happiness more meaningful. If J has no sorrow, J would not know happiness. Sorrow is precisely there to make J's happiness even more 'happy' and when one day J feels this happiness, he will come to understand this greater purpose behind 'sorrow', as ridiculous as it may seem now. Some things may not be meant for J to understand, but others certainly are. J has always given 'words of wisdom' to D on how to handle D's love life, yet J finds himself lacking also in that aspect. As far as I am concerned, I want to tell J this.

J, let it go. Let it go.

Names have been censored as they are still juveniles (referring to mentality, not the age). Jianyong, don't worry it's not you. I have some friends whose names start with J also, like Jasmine, Jason, Jesline, Jay Chou and even Jeon Ji-Hyun. You know, there are so many others, so the J in this story is really not you. I know your name also starts with J, but I'm really not referring to you.

J was actually very unhappy when he first stepped into TPJC, since he was earlier posted to TJC. He had to first wake up early, something which he hated, and secondly, he does not feel that TPJC is good enough for him. All these changed, as there was soon to come, something more important that what he wanted. It was no longer about himself anymore, but about the girl he loved. He was willing to give up his inconveniences and desires to be with this girl, Y. J soon fell in love with Y, who is from Band. In order to spend more time with Y, J decided to quit his beloved CO and join Band. This although he had known that if he had stayed in CO, he would become the President due to his natural talent. However, he was ready to give up fame and prestige to live a simple and humble life with Y. Thus J sacrificed to be a lowly clarinetist, again just to be in the same section as Y. Thus, they spent more time with each other and their love blossomed. There was no turning back for J.

One day, however, Y broke to J a very devastating news : Y is migrating overseas as their parents' work are relocated there. J was devastated. He plucked up his courage and confronted Y's parents. "Please! Let Y stay here with me! I love her."
"Will you give up your dreams to be with my daughter?"
"Yes, I will."
"How can I give my daughter to someone so nuah (no backbone) who gives up his dreams so easily?"
J then answered: "Because....sir, Y IS my only dream." (Credit to LOST)

At this, Y broke into tears and her parents allowed them to be together. It was perfect, until a few days later J learnt of Y's previous relationship. He picked up a picture of her and X, Y's ex, and was alarmed to see that X resembled J a lot. J was saddened and shocked. Is Y merely using J as a substitute for X? With this, J confonted Y, and indeed, Y confessed that she may have loved the image of X in J, not J himself. J was devastated again, yet his love for Y is too great for him to give her up. Yet at the same time, he knew that Y never truly loved him. Thus J said to Y "Ai qing shi bu neng mian qiang de. mian qiang shi mei you xing fu de. Translation: Love cannot be forced. Forcing will lead to no happiness.
Go, find your happiness, go back to X. I am not the one you love. X is."

Thus Y and J went on separate ways. But J could never forget the betrayal he felt at the hands of Y. He felt used. He felt cheated. Why didn't Y tell him at the start of their relatioship? To this, he had no answer and slumped into a state of depression. He started reading Depression books at the TPJC library in a bid to stop himself from going into depression. Slowly, love started to turn into distrust and finally into hatred. J vented his frustration on Y's classmates and secondary schoolmates from GMSS....everyone who associates with Y, except Y herself, because he knew that he needed a channel to vent his frustration on, yet he could never vent in on Y. The past shapes the future, thought J. J knew he still secretly loved Y, yet his heart was stabbed everytime he sees Y and X together now. J felt like a loser. In order to replace the pride he had lost, he began challenging the authorities like the Principal and started taunting people in the TPJC forums. His life had turned upside down without Y in his life.

Had J made a right decision? Did Y leave because X took her away, or because J did not ask her to stay?
